Ten plus years ago I purchased Scott's Elite Fitness Systems VHS pack. If my memory serves me correctly prior to making the purchase, I had a brief e-mail exchange followed up with a brief phone conversation with Scott to see if his tapes were the right fit for me since I was 40 at the time. Scott came across as very sincere and a man's man. This past Monday I turned 50 and wanted to rededicate myself to health and fitness and did a search with Scotts' name to see if he had the series in DVD or some new releases. I was shocked to see that the first thing that came up was Wikipedia were I for the first time learned of his death. I remember the events that took place, but must not have heard the reports after they released the names or didn't put it together. As a result, today I carry a heavy heart. I know Scott knew his purpose that God had for him and I am going to dedicate my fitness and health in his memory so I can continue to do the things I love in the outdoors. Scott, I will need your help in maintaining the dedication and discipline to remain consistent.
Your friend in Christ,

As many others, I just came across this special area of the internet dedicated to Scott. I have learned of the events only today and feel as though I have known Scott forever. I have a good friend also named Scott that looks so much like Scott that they could be twins. He too was in the armed forces, an Army Ranger and is now a police officer in Ohio. It has been said that everyone in the world has a look alike. I would love to send a photo. I wanted to share something special, I lost my grandfather a few years ago. This was the first time that I had ever lost a loved one. After he passed away I was the first one into his hospital room. I told him to come and visit as often as he could. I had never even though about the afterlife or anything like that. Now it is 8 years later and he has come to visit me (in my dreams) 3 different times. Each of which, when I awoke I was exhausted and crying. I have since researched this and it is normal for communicating with the "afterlife." My point is that he told me these lovely words. He said "heaven is better than anyone could ever imagine!" These words have brought so much to our family and will be with me the rest of my life. I know that it was truly him coming to see me. I asked, why havent you come to visit anyone else? He said that "they are not ready!" In giving this thought I truly do not feel that my grandmother or mother could have handled this emotional visit. I am very strong willed, so I believe that he came to me to share his words. He was actually in heaven and sharing with me what it is like. Your friend, your husband is in a place that is so great, so perfect that we can only begin to imagine. The purpose of life here on earth is to do the best that we can (which Scott certainly did) and then go to meet the lord and complete our soul in heaven. Scott is that guardian angel that will keep Kel and the kids safe. He IS watching over all of you. God bless and I hope that this sheds some sunlight on your day. Feel free to email me as I would love to share more.

I did write Scott an email once which he did answer himself about buying the navy seal DVD’s which he made. Although never purchased it due to it being region 1 setting. In the UK we are region 2 so it won’t play on our machines inless you have the machine chipped.
However…..It is now 6 years later and I do have a chipped machine. Im thinking I will be buying the DVD’s soon. Wishing your family well and may a great guy be resting in peace, Jim.

I remember Scott from MARG 2-87. I was Engineer Officer in USS Whidbey Island (LSD-41). I was wearing an Edgewater High School alumni t-shirt and he saw this from about 50 feet away. We talked about Orlando and about how he had been to West Orange High School and how I had a neice who was a freshman there. A couple of weeks later in Lisbon, Portugal he was assigned to Shore Patrol at fleet landing. I issued him probably the only unlawful command of my career concerning someone in the medical officer's face shouting insults, and he did it for me. One Sunday morning in 2004 I flicked on the radio and heard about his tragic dealth and realized, man, I met that dude, and he did something special for me.

I met Scott in 1986 in Spain. He was only passing through with a dedicated C141 and Seal gear. I spent the day with him talking about Grenada, Seals, SF's and had a great day. I only knew Scott for a day, but after the day was over, I felt like I knew him my entire life. The day we were together, we saved a life of a heart attack Spanish flight line worker. I was huge for me and just another day for Scott. I remember waiting for an ambulance that never arrived and Scott and I put the victim in the back of a truck and did it ourselves. When we arrived at the ER, an Air Force doctor ran to us and Scott was listing off the vitals. The docter was an asshole and told Scott, "Soldier, I've got it from here! in a mean tone" Scott's reply was priceless, Scott said, "Doctor, I'm not a soldier, I'm a Navy Seal, and this is my patient until I release him to you!" The doctor was speechless. Since I was also Air Force, I looked at the doctor as Scott and I passed him and said, "I'm with him"
I know that Scott didn't think much of that day, but for me, I received a medal for our actions. Since 1986, I have always felt Scott should have been acknowledged for his actions...if it was not for Scott, I'm sure the victim would have died. The medal I received should have gone to Scott.

He stinks all the way here in Kentucky and we've voiced out opinions of him and his organization on many other websites.
Take care of yourselves and your family's.
Love ya all bunches !!

I only hope that you find comfort in the celebration of his life and your time together. I was truly touched by what I read of this great guy! I know how he must have felt as I desperately miss my service life and have indeed considered working over in Iraq doing security but to-date have resisted the lure of the money as these big security companies seem to value the $ more than their men & women! I don;t know what has happened with the families lawsuit but hope it has gone well. Peace

Kyle, congratulations!! Graduating from high school is an astronomically huge deal, with honors is even more wonderful. You should be very proud of yourself for achieving such an accomplishment. You’ve done your family very, very proud. I remember getting my GED diploma in the mail 11 years ago after attending Jefferson Alternative High School for 2 years. It was a huge relief and a sense of pride I’ll never forget as I’m sure accepting your diploma was as well. Tricia, I know you must be exploding with pride and love for your son right now and to share in this wonderful milestone in your first child’s life, I’m sure is a moment in your lives you’ll remember ALWAYS! Kyle, your father may not have been there physically to have shared in the moment, but he was there in spirit and I’m sure he is as proud of you as your mother is and had the best view of anyone there and at graduations that’s NOT easy. Kyle, just over three years ago you, your mother and your sister were dealt an inconceivable loss and you held on, suffered through it and have healed enough to move forward with your lives and now you’ve come out on the other side and are doing okay. That very fact alone after the tragedy and loss you suffered is a testament to what a wonderful mother you have. Though dealing with her own loss and pain she had the strength and courage to see you and your sister through yours. Now that’s a MOM!! Again, congratulations, Kyle. To quote your mother, “what a milestone!!!!”
Scott, I only know you and Tricia through your vhs and dvd workout series, but wanted to say to you on your special day, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I didn't make the connection until just a week ago when I tried to see if the show was on DVD and found clips of Mr. Helvenston and the others on the internet. Even as we near the three year anniversary of this tragedy, the sadness I felt after learning of Scott's death still resides in my soul. I can remember the first time I saw Scott on Combat Missions...I just thought he was the coolest guy. What really struck me was the resemblance he had to my own father, an ex-SEAL himself. He died of Agent Orange related cancer in 2002-Though I cannot begin to understand how Scott's death has affected those around him, I know what it feels like to lose one of these men in a broader sense. It only takes one look into Scott's eyes to see the kind of love for life he possessed. My father had that same look, as do many of his buddies for the teams. They just want to get out there and do it all-and best of all, the confidence they have in themselves enables them to do just that. The kind of affect this has on the ones around them cannot be understated-it's truly amazing to have one of these men at your side. You simply don't know how to live until you've "taught" how to by a Navy SEAL. It breaks my heart to know that a man like this was taken from Kelly and her children; and yet, I'm so happy that they had the opportunity to know him. These are the same feelings I have towards my own father, the ones that get me through each day-Though I only had him for a brief 14 years, the experiences and life he infused into me are worth countless lifetimes. God bless all of you, and no matter how difficult things become, always remember Scott's example: Never ring that bell!

Hello, my name is Dan and i live in Germany (I'am half-german / half-french). Here my story : I'm now 33 years old, and used to have an ill body covered with psoriasis (up to 80%) from 1999 to 2005. Before that time, i used to be a nice and attractive (healthy) guy, i really enjoyed life.Since i wasn't born with that illness, the speed with which it settled my entire body made my girlfriend leave, me which depressed me so much that i started to have suicidal tendencies because i didn't want to suffer anymore (appearence and pain).
One day the Lord told me to change the way i lived : i stopped the junk food decided to start training. After some random searching in stores i found Scott's workout videotape hidden in the backroom of an old buy-and-sell shop. It looked dusty and old-fashioned, but "something" told me to take it. Well i can tell u that this training tape changed my life... After 6 months of daily training i had lowered my bodyweight from 115 kgs to 91 kgs (-24!) and healed my body (10% plaques left). But the strength and confidence that i gained didn't come from the training itself, but from Scott himself. I fell in love with his attitude, the timber of his voice, the kindness with which he leads the sessions. He pumped-up my mental again so much that i started to consider him as a friend (I'm not crazy). Sincethen, i always have the feeling that he is in the room with me and i can not imagine one single day without meeting Scott for an hour. On the day he left us, i was so sad that i sweat, i sweat all the tears of my body and didn't eat for a week.
Anyway, i just wanted to send lots and lots of kisses to Kelly who shared his life. Be strong, i stand by u with all my strength and pray for Scott after everyday's session. Kelly, i wish i could take you in my arms and give you hope for i know what it is to lose someone you love.
God Bless you and may Scott rest in peace for ever. We will both see him again someday. Until then we can “Only Imagine” what our eyes will see but we know he will be there to share it.
Kisses.

Hi-
I am so sorry for your loss. It would be difficult to imagine your experience. I was shocked to hear Scott's name after 20 years. Scott and I went through Navy boot camp together in Company C-171, Division V in Orlando in 1982. It would have been difficult to forget Scott, because of the impression that he made. First of all, he was a good-looking guy. The kind of guy one wanted around to draw a crowd of women, so that one could score points with the also-rans, you know? Plus, his Mom, who lived fairly close by, as I recall, was the first Mom that made me think about moms in a whole new perspective-as a Hot Mom.
Among other positive qualities, Scott had an electric enthusiasm that matched his neon smile. All of us got tan that Summer, but Scott got walnut brown, and that smile practically glowed in the dark. Other than for dramatic effect, even during the most arduous physical training, because of his fitness, I don't think that Scott broke a sweat, broke a heart rate of 60, or breathed hard at all. Our paths never crossed again after Boot, as far as I know. I went on and got my commission, and served on the USS Nashville, and USS Trenton as a Naval Officer. Of course, since Scott went on to make history as the youngest SEAL of his time, it's entirely possible that we had near-miss reunions at Little Creek, or Norfolk, since my ships went to both. We'll never know, I guess. I thought that you might want to hear about him from a younger time. I just wish that I had more to relate. He was a good guy then, and from what I've heard, he stayed that way.
Please give my respects to his Mom, and rest of the family.
Take care.
Warmest regards,
Paul (Buzz) Roe

What an amazing testimony that this Scott touched so many people's lives and is living on in such a wonderful way through this website, more than 2 years after God called him to Heaven. I found out about Scott's story several months ago, in similar fashion to many others that have visited here; I was searching/shopping for Navy SEAL workouts, and found this site in the midst. Scott lived a great life and inspired many, many people; that much is obvious just from the comments here and other articles I've found online. But what's more important than anything he did while on earth was his commitment to Jesus Christ, and willingness to share that with others. THAT is the only sure thing that any of us can hope for; eternal life in Heaven if we accept the Lord and live our lives for Him and not ourselves. None of us can avoid death from this life, and Scott realized that both with his pledge to God and the American public. So thanks for everything Scott! I'm proud to share the same first name, and now own & use every Navy SEAL workout that he produced. The words I hear from him several times a week include the unforgettable "Uh-one, two, thu-ree" count offs, as well as "A person with a STRONG stomach is a STRONG person" and my favorite "Pain is weakness leaving the body!" with that motivating grin. To Kelly, Tricia, the kids, and all the rest of Scott's family; remember those words of his, and know that there is another prayer warrior out here with your names on his lips. God Bless you all, and I pray that peace and comfort will come into your lives soon. ;)

Remember Scott only with joy as he is obviously someone who should be remembered as such. And take strength that he lived such an honorable life. kyle kelsey and i went on a kayack and spent the night together remembering who he was. kelsey wanted hotdogs "like daddy used to make them" so.... we had hotdogs, fresca and i had a cubalibre (rum and coke) in his honor.then we went out in the kayacks and brought him his. there was a cloud with a hole in it with the sun shining through it that kelsey noticed, the sun beams were coming down to us. she and i both knew it was scott. kyle was a little less sentimental but .......... i think he believed too. we put his hotdog and fresca and rum and coke in the inlet and said our prayers and the hole in the clouds closed up.

I search his profile in the Internet, I was shocked when I read the article that he was killed in the ambush in Iraq,
Last summer here I was watching the "news central" our evening news here. I saw him many times in the news, but I did not knew yet that he's Scott.
For me his a great hero, He already fulfilled his life here on earth.

Truly a great warrior and a real American hero. His death will not be in vain. The thousands of military personnel serving in Iraq will look at the life he led, and use it to bring them strength. God bless him and his family. I am certain he’s up there now instructing Jesus to keep his finger off the trigger at all times. Godspeed Mr. Helvenston!

I missed Combat Missions. Saw Scott on man vs beast kickin a chimps ass. Am deeply sorry to hear of the death of one of this ages true warriors. My only hope is that a smirk will spread his face as he looks down upon the earth to see me and the few others carring on his warrior way with fierce intent and tenacity we he himself so adamantly displayed.Im sure that is what he would want as a warrior, to live on through the warriors to come.
Rest in Peace.

When I watched Combat Missions I was about 14 and thought of Scott Helvenston as my favorite. He was a passionate man who some may not have appreciated, but I know of the values behind his persona. I'm not a religious person, in the Christian sense, but I try to live with honor and ethical principles and I can tell you that he was and is a good man. I just found out today, after I saw an old tape with evolution 13 on it, and found out what happened on the internet, when I went to see what had happened to some of the men. I'm sorry about what happened. God Bless you and take care. HooYah!

I used to hear stories about Scott from guys in the teams. Some knew Scott well having served with him, others that never served with him still knew him because of his persona. He was well liked by many, and not so well liked by a few. One called him a "a-hole" but followed with, "but he's our a-hole." I never met Scott...but I know he'll be missed. I cryed the day I heard he'd past...I know many cryed that day. I'm happy to know that Scott is with Christ.

I saw Scott on a TV show once and was impressed that he was a Navy SEAL at 17 (my current age). After watching that show was the first time I ever thought seriouly about serving in the military, which is what I now plan on doing after I graduate high school. Thank you Scott. Hooyah!

I never met Scott, but I was once involved with the SEALS and I have heard about Scott several time. To this day I think about him and what me went thru. Just the other day I read about his story in GQ Magazine. It's a SHAME that he was put into a position with limited resources. I hope the families win the lawsuit against Blackwater. Thank you Kelly for this site as it keeps his memories alive and he will never be forgotten.

Thank you for your wonderful creation with this site. When those brave men were murdered and dishonored, I was rageful, and remain so. However, until now I had never seen their pictures, and glimpsed into their home lives, and loved ones. Words fail to adequately express my condolences, and my gratitude to God for blessing us with his time and spirit. May Jesus embrace Scott, and may God bless Kelly in her grief.

Thank you for sharing this site with the public. I was shocked to find that Scott was one of the four Blackwater contracters killed in Faluja, while watching a PBS documentary on the privatization of military contracts in Iraq. My deepest regards go to you and your family. I did not know Scott, but I purchased the workout video he made some time ago, and enjoyed the special forces challange T.V. show he was in. I remember thinking to myself when I learned that he was dead..."I wish I would of know Christ when I met Scott, I would have shared with him, my now present savior.” What a joy to learn that Scott may have known the Lord. :)

Feeling sad this evening…
Watched a program on A&E which featured an officer, by the name of Steve Claggett, on the Dallas SWAT team. He looked sort of familiar, so decided to google his name – that lead me from Combat Missions, to Scott, and then finally – to his site. My wife and I were faithful viewers of Combat Missions; we were both shocked the day he died. Scott was such a fierce competitor, but you could feel that there was soft and gentle side to him.
…as for the feeling of sadness. I was upset with my oldest son & sent him to bed early this evening. Scott’s site pretty much put it into perspective for me – one should really count their blessings. I’ll be sure to give him a ‘bigger’ hug in the morning
My prayers go out to Kelly and the entire Helvenston family
Peace
